Coordinated School Health
Coordinated School Health (CSH) is a systemic approach of advancing student academic performance by promoting, practicing and coordinating school health education and services for the benefit and well-being of students in establishing healthy behaviors designed to last their lifetime. All Texas school districts are required by law to implement a coordinated school health program in grades K-8.

The Eight Components of Coordinated School Health
TEA Approved CSH Programs
The agency is required by law to make available to each school district one or more coordinated health programs. Each program is designed to prevent obesity, cardiovascular disease, and Type 2 diabetes in elementary school, middle school, and junior high school students. Each program must coordinate health education, including oral health education, physical education and physical activity, nutrition services, and parental involvement.

Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child
The education, public health, and school health sectors have each called for greater alignment that includes, integration and collaboration between education leaders and health sectors to improve each child’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Public health and education serve the same children, often in the same settings. The Whole School Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model focuses on the child to align the common goals of both sectors to put into action a whole child approach to education
